The Vision Volleyball U16 team added more hardware to their coffers with a silver medal finish at the U17 Bugarski Cup over the weekend in Barrie
The girls were playing in a higher age division tournament and the Vision team went undefeated in pool play.
They then defeated the North Bay U16 Lakers in the quarter finals 25-11 and 25-7, before advancing to the semis against the Barrie Acts Elite and defeating them 25-11, 25-23.
Vision then battled the top seeded Sudbury U17 Chill in the gold medal match, and fell in three sets 19-25, 25-22, 8-15.
This tournament caps off a very successful regular season for the team.
Under the coaching of John Jeffries and assistant coaches Len Pappano and Karen Morris, the team competed in both the Championship and Premier Divisions of the OVA where the province’s top teams compete, as well as in a higher age division for two tournaments. Competing at this level, they brought home four OVA medals.
The team is now preparing for the OVA Provincials in Waterloo where the girls have secured a Division 1 Tier 1 ranking, seeded ninth out of 71 teams in Ontario.
They will later travel to Sherbrooke, Quebec for the eastern Nationals in May. The team would like to recognize their Strength and Conditioning Coach Matt Blanchard, as well as the team’s banner sponsors: Canada Brokerlink, North Bay Powder Coating, Accounton Fullerton, Stockfish Ford, Resolution Machining, KS& Partners, Moose’s Cookhouse, Fire Alert, Grant Thornton, Zamperoni/Gamble Dentistry, North Bay Toyota, North Bay Chrysler, Trapper City Paving.
